Your wooden cutting board has deep food stains. Effortlessly get it clean like new again.

5. Using the lemon half as a scrubber, rub the board again, putting a bit of muscle into areas with heavier staining. The lemon and salt will combine to create a paste which will help in the cleaning process.
6. After scrubbing, leave the salt and lemon mixture on the board for another 5 minutes.
7. Scrape the dirty salt away from the board using a bench scraper or spatula and discard it. If you don’t have a scraper, you can use the side of a knife (carefully) or a spoon.
8. Rinse the board with clean water, ensuring all the salt is removed. Stubborn stains may require a second application of salt and lemon.
9. To disinfect and deodorize the board after the stains have been removed, you can pour white vinegar over it and then rinse it again with water.
10. Once your board is stain-free, dry it thoroughly with a clean towel and then let it air dry completely before storing it away. This helps to prevent the wood from warping or cracking.
11. For added measure, condition your cutting board after it’s completely dry. Apply a generous coat of food-safe mineral oil or a mixture of beeswax and mineral oil to the surface of the board. This not only helps to seal and protect the wood but also restores its natural sheen.
12. Use a clean cloth to rub the oil or wax blend into the wooden board. Make sure to cover the entire surface, including the sides and bottom. Allow the wood to absorb the oil for a few hours or overnight.
13. Wipe off any excess oil with a dry cloth. If you’ve also used beeswax in your mixture, this may provide a slightly water-resistant layer which will help in keeping your board cleaner for longer.
With these simple steps, your wooden cutting board will not only look clean but also practically brand new. It’s a great way to prolong the life and aesthetics of one of your most used kitchen tools. Remember to clean and oil your board regularly, as maintenance is key to keeping it looking its best for years to come.
